Celebrating 125 years of
Volk's Electric Railway.
"The World's oldest operating electric railway"

On Sunday 3rd August 2008 at 12 noon The Mayor of Brighton and TV presenter Nicholas Owen will officially launch the 125th Anniversary of Volk's Electric Railway.
A special train composed of cars 7 & 8 in their new cream and burgundy livery will then proceed from Aquarium Station to Halfway, where Nicholas will open a new exhibition about the railway adjacent to the car sheds at Banjo Groyne.
Other events will continue throughout the week and details of those will appear here as they are finalised.

One very special event will happen, weather permitting, on Saturday 9th August when members of the Volk's Electric Railway Association will operate a service over the line from the end of normal daily running through until 9.00pm - which means that the electric cars will be running with their lights on in the dark - an event not seen for at least 50 years!
