Celebrating 125 years of
Volk's Electric Railway.
"The World's oldest operating electric railway"
Thanks to John Goddard here are a few pictures of the 125 celebrations.......

Newest VERA recruit and latest driver is Nicholas Owen who is normally to be found on the other side of the camera.

Peter, Ian and Alan try to work out which way up the banner advertising the 125 exhibition needs to go.

Nealy there as Brenda comes along to give advice and Alan scratches his head.

A double and a single prepare for the ceremonial train at Aquarium.

Nick Owen chats to other VERA members and invited guests at Halfway.

In the exhibition was this very nice model of the Daddy Long Legs.

John Goddards fine model - or at least part of it was on display. Here the cars (including the ex Southend cars) line up outside the shed

Halfway Station still sports its canopy.

To the left is an overall view of the model which was operated by a push button. Klaxons, overhead controllers, ticket machines and other items were on show together with very compehnsive and readable display boards.

The picture above shows many of the descendants of Magnus Volk together with His Worship the Mayor posing in front of Brighton and Hove bus No.810 which is named after Magnus. The oldest member of the family is Magnus's 94 year old grand-daughter who is standing just to the right of the Mayor.
